Sensei - Mike Gibson - 5th Dan


Sensei Mike Gibson is the Founder and Chief Instructor of Mushin Tatakai Martial Arts Academy which was established in 2015.

He began his Martial Arts journey back in 1987 and has trained in various styles and systems including Traditional Karate and Freestyle, achieving 4 black belts in total. He is a qualified Referee in Karate, Kickboxing and Performance Kata. He has competed at a Regional, National and World level in Kata, Traditional Kumite fighting and Points fighting.

He was the Martial Arts Illustrated (MAI) magazine’s Martial Artist of the month in 2016 and has been inducted into the MAI and Black Belt Hall of Fame. The Academy has received the prestigious World Martial Arts Organisation award for two years running for its contribution to the Arts and the community. He has recently been appointed as Head of Mushin Kai for the Yorkshire district and one of 13 people worldwide that is qualified to teach this concept which is renowned for its effectiveness in today’s world. He is a Representative for the World Martial Arts Organisation of which our Academy is affiliated to and is the England Squad under 12's coach.

Sensei Mike is passionate about developing people and providing a safe sanctuary where they can fully express themselves through Martial Arts.
